"TAKE ME. INFECT ME WITH YOUR LOVE AND FILL ME WITH YOUR POISON. MAKE ME A VICTIM"
Tim Barrus/ Katy Perry & Kanye West United States of America

Rachel Chapple/ Contemporary Portraiture created by popular artists:

Katy Perry & Kanye West released their popular song "E.T" for the summer of 2011. It is an insensitive moment of dance floor madness given that today the Human Immunodeficiency Virus affects the lives of hundreds of millions of people: "infect me with your love, fill me with your poison, make me a victim" is something no parent or child or friend in their right mind would wish for anyone they love to experience and endure.  Some people have commented: "oh it's just a song; just a bit of fun." Songs are powerful. People sing and dance along to a popular song; sometimes without thinking. Here, a huge injustice and wrong doing is taking place.  Hundreds of millions of people are being affected around the world by the pandemic.  Young people and homeless people are at greatest risk because they lack access to appropriate healthcare and safety within their communities; and often those infected and affected by HIV are stigmatized again and again and again.

Songs are powerful because they also have the ability to make some songwriters and singers and their record labels a lot of money; more than the vast majority of today's stigmatized workers within contemporary finance and real estate industries. As I live in New York City, I was interested to see Kanye West recently attend the demonstration on Wall Street; where people are coming together to complain about their lives: their lack of jobs and social services and inappropriate healthcare and housing and allocation of funding within their communities by the Government in America. I must admit I was a little disappointed to see Mr Kanye, because I certainly do not feel any compulsion to align myself with a man who thinks nothing of dancing about whilst singing: "TAKE ME. MAKE ME A VICTIM. INFECT ME WITH YOUR LOVE AND FILL ME WITH YOUR POISON."

Tim Barrus/ March, 31, 2011: Katy Perry’s new album and video was released tonight on MTV. It’s supposed to be the pop video of the summer. It’s not. Oh, the production values are there. But the lyrics are almost shocking. Maybe just to me.

I do not understand how Kayne West — or anyone in this day and age in Hollywood or anywhere — can release the following lyrics: “Infect me with your love and fill me with your poison.”

You can be as ambiguous as you want with the rest of it and dress it up in scifi costumes. But, infect me with your love and fill me with your poison — take me ta-ta-take me — wanna be a victim…

No one with a BRAIN wants to be a victim. Infect me with your love and fill me with your poison.

Who buys this shit.

This is a BAD message, Hollywood. In fact, it’s sickening. I mashed it up. These are NOT their images. I wanted images of a crowd. Normal people. Superimposed with not so normal people. We deserve better than this. I ripped it with DJ oxide and jacked off and came on it. Fuck Kayne West. In the ass.

I put it on my blog.

My video is better than their video.

You’re so hypnotizing

Could you be the devil? Could you be an angel?

Your touch magnetizing

Feels like I am floating, leaves my body glowing

They say be afraid

You’re not like the others, futuristic lover

Different DNA

They don’t understand you

You’re from a whole other world

A different dimension

You open my eyes

And I’m ready to go, lead me into the light

Kiss me, ki-ki-kiss me

Infect me with your love and

Fill me with your poison

Take me, ta-ta-take me

Wanna be a victim

Ready for abduction

Boy, you’re an alien

Your touch so foreign

It’s supernatural

Extraterrestrial

You’re so supersonic

Wanna feel your powers, stun me with your lasers

Your kiss is cosmic

Every move is magic

You’re from a whole other world

A different dimension

You open my eyes

And I’m ready to go, lead me into the light

Kiss me, ki-ki-kiss me

Infect me with your love and

Fill me with your poison

Take me, ta-ta-take me

Wanna be a victim

Ready for abduction

Boy, you’re an alien

Your touch so foreign

It’s supernatural

Extraterrestrial

This is transcendental

On another level

Boy, you’re my lucky star

I wanna walk on your wavelength

And be there when you vibrate

For you I’ll risk it all

Kiss me, ki-ki-kiss me

Infect me with your love and

Fill me with your poison

Take me, ta-ta-take me

Wanna be a victim

Ready for abduction

Boy, you’re an alien

Your touch so foreign

It’s supernatural

Extraterrestrial, extraterrestrial, extraterrestrial

Boy, you’re an alien

Your touch so foreign

It’s supernatural

Extraterrestrial
