Myths & Misconceptions about HIVAIDS

EVERYONE'S experience makes a profound difference in expelling myths and legends from the corners of our neighbourhoods, so the real story surrounding the  transmission and treatment of HIVAIDS becomes popular knowledge. And thereby assists in the prevention of so much unnecessary suffering during today's HIVAIDS pandemic.

We look forward to hearing from you and thank you for assisting in the creation of this page, whether you happen to be well or ill. For our health and well-being is related to the health and well-being of the communities surrounding us, whether we happen to be well or ill  http://realstoriesgallery@gmail.com

Luyanda Zindela is a very talented art student in Durban, South Africa. He tells it how it is - One Plus One.

We would like to thank Luyanda for speaking so clearly and creatively and for reminding us of the real story surrounding the transmission of HIV that is still scourging through too many of our beloved neighbourhoods around the world.

One Plus One

HIV can only be transmitted through infected blood, semen, vaginal fluids, and breast milk. The most common ways for HIV to be transmitted are through unprotected sexual contact and/or sharing needles with an HIV-positive person. HIV can also be passed from mother to baby during pregnancy, birth, or breastfeeding.

"Having Sex With A Virgin Does Not Cleanse HIVAIDS" by Rachel Chapple

Are You So Afraid Of Dying

You Would Abandon Your Pride,

Shut Your Heart To The Hurt

And Your Mind To The Truth?

Our Daughter, Our Son, Our Sister, Our Brother,

Will Bleed and Will Tear,

And You,

You Will Remain Infected

By The Knowledge

You Abandoned Your Pride,

Shut Your Heart To The Hurt

And Your Mind To The Truth.

BELIEVING SOME STORIES CAUSES SO MUCH HURT AND TRAUMA.

LET US SEEK TO END THE MADNESS IN 2012.

HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus.

Nope! Bedbugs, Scabies Mites, Pubic Lice, Fleas, Mosquitoes and all other biting or blood-sucking little creepy crawlers cannot and do not transmit HIV/AIDS.

Nope! Lucky charms and special rituals do not prevent HIV transmission.

Nope! Straight people do get HIV. The majority of HIV-positive people worldwide are straight (heterosexual). Men infect women, and women infect men. Risk is not about labels, it is about behavior. Any person who has unprotected sex with someone whose HIV status is not definitely known is at risk for HIV.

Nope! Having sex with a virgin girl or boy child does not cleanse a person of HIV

Nope! Injecting or injecting hydrogen peroxide does not cure HIV.

Nope! Having sex with an animal does not cleanse a person of HIV.

Nope! Shaking up a can of coca cola and spraying genitals with the bubbles does not kill HIV.

Nope! You cannot be infected with HIV when shaking a person's hand or hugging them.

Nope! You cannot be infected with HIV from a toilet seat.

Nope! You cannot be infected with HIV from the water in a swimming pool.

Nope! Having anal sex with a female does not prevent the transmission of HIV.

Nope! Virgin is just a label. If you have had oral or anal sex, but consider yourself a 'virgin' because you haven't had vaginal sex, you are still at risk.

Nope! No magic ritual is able to make a particular village HIV-Free.

Nope! Having unprotected sex with another person who is HIV-positive is NOT safe (you can become infected with a different strain of HIV).

Nope! Lesbians can still get HIV. Some women who consider themselves lesbians occasionally have sex with men, and can get infected that way. Women who use drugs and share needles can get HIV from a needle that has been used by someone who is HIV positive.

Nope! Being a good and faithful wife will not protect you from becoming infected with HIV.

hiv..aids

Yes if you are very rich .. you can get aids! And If you are very poor you can get aids too, and die from it!

THE TRUTH ABOUT AID/HIV

My wife Maya has carried the AIDS Virus for 25 years. She contracted the Virus while working with the ICRC from a tainted blood transfusion, back in the days before blood screening. To look at her you would never know she suffers from AIDS and it has little affect on our daily lives, except for the Meds that she is required to take to keep her alive and the periodic testing to keep track of the levels of Virus in her blood. The tragedy of AIDS today is that it is a disease which could be completely irradiated with Education and proper treatment. But FEAR, Ignorance and a careless disregard have made it pandemic in parts of the World
